BLM Public Lands Rule
NCBA , and our partners at the Public Lands Council , have been pushing back on the Bureau of Land Management ’ s ( BLM ) public lands rule . The rule is deeply concerning for producers in the West who operate on public lands . When the comment period ended in July , NCBA filed comments against the rule with a coalition of other agricultural groups who share our concerns . We highlighted how the BLM failed to listen to the producers who will be most impacted during the drafting process , which has undermined the working relationship the agency needs to have with ranchers . The draft rule proposed expanding agency authority without Congressional authorization and would create worse conservation outcomes through this new regulation . In addition to the formal comments , more than 800 individual cattle and sheep producers submitted grassroots comments to the BLM . We are extremely appreciative of this effort , and we will continue holding the BLM accountable for this concerning rule as the agency continues this effort through the end of 2023 .
As we look forward to 2024 , NCBA will continue to be the leading voice in Washington , D . C ., to protect and advocate for cattle producers across the U . S .
