5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER YOUR AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE

Whether your American Quarter Horse is being used in traditional ranching operations , for rodeo , showing or recreation , the American Quarter Horse Association strives to provide services beneficial for you and your Quarter Horses . Registering your horse ensures its pedigree is documented in the history books of AQHA .
Here are five reasons why it is important to register your American Quarter Horse :
1 . Doing so allows the registry to more accurately represent the breed .
2 . Your horse will be more valuable and marketable with a certificate of registration , whether it is at the sale , competition or breeding barn .
3 . You will be able to take advantage of competing in AQHA events and programs with a registered American Quarter Horse .
4 . Your horse ’ s future performance records and achievements will be kept by AQHA .
5 . If your horse becomes part of a breeding program and produces offspring with other American Quarter Horses , those offspring may become eligible for registration . This will allow them to enjoy the advantages of being recognized as a registered American Quarter Horse .
There are three ways to submit an AQHA registration form .
• Online registration . Registering your horse online is the fastest and most efficient way to submit your forms . You ’ ll also save $ 5 on your foal ’ s registration fee by completing the transaction online using promo code ONLINEREG . Online registration applications are given priority over those that are mailed to AQHA .
• Email scanned registration application . You can download and fill in a registration application online , then email back to registration @ aqha . org .
• Mail registration application . Simply download and print a registration application , then mail back to the American Quarter Horse Association , PO Box 200 , Amarillo , TX 79168 .
To register your foal online , you will need the following information :
• Link your membership as the owner of the dam at time of foaling or owner of the foal at time of breeding if the foal was the result of embryo transfer .
• Date foaled .
• Breeding method , including embryo transfer date and number , if applicable .
• If the stallion breeding report is not listed , you can still apply for registration . However , AQHA will not be able to complete the registration until all documents are received .
• Dam ’ s name and / or registration number and the name and / or registration number of the stallion she was bred to .
• Five photos are required for online registration . You can also scan the markings diagram for reference .
• Foal name choices .
• Signed breeder ’ s certificate from the stallion owner unless the stallion owner released the breeding online .
• For transfers included with online registration : date of sale and buyer ’ s information ( name , AQHA ID number , address , phone number and email address ).
