TOP BILLS TO WATCH IN CONGRESS
Every two years, Congress starts a new session. Every session is a blank slate where representatives and senators have the opportunity to introduce new bills, debate policy and vote on which bills will ultimately become law. NCBA monitors this legislation and works with policymakers to advance the cattle industry’ s priorities. Key Bills
Farm Bill – NCBA is waiting for a Farm Bill to be introduced. In the last session of Congress, NCBA supported a Farm Bill introduced by Rep. GT Thompson( R-PA) in the House. NCBA is working with Rep. Thompson to introduce a similar bill this Congress.
Tax Package – NCBA is waiting for a tax bill to be introduced that would extend provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and lower taxes for cattle produces. This bill is a top priority for President Trump, so it will likely be drafted behind closed doors and then introduced at a later date.
